Monsignor Don Dunn

(In Honor and Memory)

Monsignor Donald (Don) Dunn was ordained for the Archdiocese of Denver on Dec. 20, 1961, in St. Peter’s Basilica. After seminary training at St. Thomas Seminary in Denver and the North American College in Rome, he pursued graduate studies in social work at Catholic University of America from 1966 to 1968.  Following his graduate studies, Msgr Dunn was assigned to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Denver from 1968 to 1980.  He also served as President of the National Conference of Catholic Charities in Washington D.C., from 1977 to 1979.  From 1980 to 1983, Msgr Dunn served as Vicar for Family Life and Youth Services in the Archdiocese and subsequently served on a missionary team from the Archdiocese in Monteria, Columbia, from 1984 to 1986.  In 1984, Msgr Dunn was incardinated into the Diocese of Colorado Springs and served as pastor of St. Patrick Parish from 1987-1991.  He was then appointed full time Vicar General of the Diocese in 1991.  In 1997,  he was appointed pastor of St. Mary Cathedral.  While holding this position, he also held responsibilities as Vicar General until retirement in 2007.  During that time, a major renovation of the cathedral was completed.  Since the fall of 2007, he has served as a part-time sacramental minister at St. Dominic Parish in Security, CO.  In Spring of 2009, he was named an Honorary Prelate by Pope Benedict XVI and given the title of Monsignor.

Don served with One Simple Voice as a board member from 2010-2019.
